I went to a job fair today representing the company I work for and to advertise the positions we have available at our department. I met a lot of professionals looking for work but I also ran into some people that need some help! Now, don't get me wrong, I know what it is like to look for work in this economy. These are just helpful hits:- Do not wear a sports jersey
- Make sure your tattoos are not visible
- DON'T hit on the person representing the company you are interested in!
- Don't wear something you would go to the club in
- Don't wear anything that looks like you just got out of bed
- Don't wear jeans
- Brush your hair
- Make sure your fake eyelashes look somewhat real
- Don't approach the table by saying "So what do you have"?
- Have an idea of what you would like to do
- Do not ask for job descriptions and then say "Not that I would work for your company"
- Don't sit at a table and then stare at a company representative
- Work on your resume! ONE word bullets don't tell me anything!!!
- Make sure your resume is not a book
- Once you have turned in a resume DON'T ask for it back
Ok...I think I covered everything. Good luck!
